Dr. Rashmi Rastogi received her Bachelors and Masters (Honors) Degree in Clinical Psychology from Delhi University and M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Clinical Neuropsychology from Meerut University in India. She did her postdoctoral fellowship at Zucker Hillside Hospital at the Center for Neuropsychiatric Outcome and Rehabilitation Research (CENORR), with focus on both clinical work and research. She also worked in the Lyme Clinic in the Department of Infectious Disease, Long Island Jewish Medical Center (now LIJMC-Northwell Health) in a research study which assessed memory issues in patients with Lyme disease. Dr. Rastogi was awarded a NARSAD (National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression) Young Investigator Grant to research "Stigmatization from Neuroleptic Induced Movement Disorders in Patients with Schizophrenia". NARSAD grants by the Brain and Behavior Foundation are one of the high distinctions in the field of mental health research.
Dr. Rastogi has worked in the fields of psychiatric illnesses, acquired brain injury, developmental and neurological injuries in children, adolescents, and adults. She has done English/ Hindi evaluations for the NYS Board of Education and participated in Early Intervention evaluations with the pediatric rehabilitation team at a leading NYS hospital. Patient populations served include Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, Learning Disability, Intellectual Disabilities, other neurodevelopmental disorders, Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke, Aneurysm, Anoxic Encephalopathy, Hydrocephalous, Brain and other Tumors, Dementia, Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, and medically complex cases. She also has experience in behavioral management for patients with brain injuries, chronic pain, and in helping individuals cope with life changes following amputation, spinal cord injury, or other neurological disorders.
To focus on more clinical work and her private practice, Dr. Rastogi recently left her role as the Behavioral Health Program Director in an inpatient brain injury rehabilitation department in one of the Northwell Health hospitals and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the Donald and Barbara School of Medicine at Hofstra /Northwell. In those roles she had also supervised post-doctoral fellows, predoctoral interns, and externs.
Currently, Dr. Rastogi is practicing privately and doing evaluations for all ages with a whole range of referral questions. Some usual referral reasons include assessing for Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, other neurodevelopmental disorders, concussions, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia. She is also doing evaluations for the New Brunswick Board of Education.
